From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Remote Learning Update

As you are aware, the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that the current restrictions, including those in place for schools, will continue for at least another four weeks and be in place until the end of Week 7, Friday 27th August.

It is obvious that Term 3 is not how we envisaged, as we were looking forward to having our students back at school. However, we understand that this change is necessary for the safety of all in our community. We will continue to follow the directives of the NSW Government, as they make decisions based on the latest health advice.

With the extension of restrictions, Alexander School will continue with its Remote Learning plan. Our experiences in 2020 have guided our transition as there has been the need to adjust quickly to a new routine of how we plan, deliver and engage in learning. I am very pleased to state that all our staff, students and parents have responded in a positive and successful manner. The flexibility of our community continues to ensure that our practices as both teachers and students remain successful and effective.

Students have maintained their routine and focus, as they attend their lessons and interact with their peers and teachers. We know that students learn best when they are strongly connected and in a supportive and engaging environment. Through the Google Education Apps including Meet, we are providing them with this opportunity.

I thank the staff for their professionalism, the countless hours of lesson preparation and for always placing the students at the forefront of everything that they do. Thank you to the many parents who have expressed their support for the efforts of our staff, they provide encouragement when it is most needed.

Finally, please don't hesitate to call or email if you or your family are experiencing any challenges or difficulties where we can assist.

It is imperative that we stay positive and have our trust in God, to help guide us towards the right choices and the light at the end of the tunnel.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Matthew 6:33

Remote Learning | Kindergarten

Kindergarten students have been having so much fun during their Remote Learning and online meetings, showing their amazing talents during Kindy's Got Talent, showing their fantastic cooking skills during Kindy MasterChef, introducing their pets during Kindy's Pet Show, playing scavenger hunts related to their sound words and 2D shapes and showcasing their crazy hair during our Crazy Hair Day.

They have been practising their sight words and sounds of the week, playing hands on Mathematics and Literacy games, reading great books, doing wonderful maths work, writing and so much more ! They have also been doing Cosmic Yoga, Just Dance and amazing art!

A very special congratulations to every single student in Kindergarten who is very deserving of an award. Well done! We are so proud of all of your efforts and your amazing confidence! Special 'Thank You' to the parents for all of their efforts!

Census 2021 | Armenian Ancestry, Language & Religion

Every five years, the Australian Bureau of Statistics counts every person and home in Australia. This is called the Census. The Census is on Tuesday 10 August 2021. You can complete your Census as soon as you receive your instructions, if you know where you will be on Census night.

The Census form asks questions about things like your:

  • age

  • country of birth

  • religion

  • ancestry and background

  • language used at home

  • work

  • education.

When filling in the Census, you need to include everyone who is staying in your home on Census night.

In the 'Ancestry' question, you will be given a list of options to select. 'Armenian' will not be listed there. Instead of selecting from the options given, tick 'Other' and write in 'Armenian'.

Do the same for the questions on Language and Religion, by placing the word 'Armenian'.
